Living in Lancaster

Lancaster has grown a lot. You can buy a 100-year-old house near the village's Central Avenue or a brand-new build in a subdivision ten minutes away. We both sell here regularly.

Two very different Lancasters

The Village of Lancaster has older homes, a walkable Central Avenue, and the feel of a small town. The rest of the town, including Bowmansville and the areas out toward Transit Road and Alden, has been filled in with newer subdivisions over the past few decades.

Part of the Village of Depew is in Lancaster too, with more affordable older homes.

Things to know

  • Most of the town is in the Lancaster Central School District. Parts are in Depew or other districts.
  • Village homes pay village taxes on top of town, county and school taxes.
  • New construction is common. Read the builder's contract carefully and get an independent inspection anyway.
